Overview of the culture war

                                                             printable view

T he Culture war doesn't get the type of coverage as your typical shooting war, where you can see your tax dollars at work blowing up costly infrastructure and killing the "bad guys".

The culture war is just as lethal but in a less patent way; after all, it is a war on American soil, so we treat it like dirty laundry. Neo-cons have been beating the culture war drums for almost three decades now, so this is not a new war. We now have enough war data to compile docudramas that give a glimpse of how the individual battles within the culture war are being waged.

These docudramas serve as a snapshot from the frontline to the folks back home. They are the culture war version of the pentagon briefings.

Good news from the front in any war has a bolstering effect on the resolve of the war planners and war supporters alike. "Stay the course and don't give in because we are winning" is the message that keeps the battles raging and the hopes high.

Given the state of the enemy, It's easy to conceive that they won't be around much longer, so lets do everything to launch and all out offensive that will push them over the edge.

We see that they are in dire straits, so lets not let up and give them a chance to regroup. We know their vulnerabilities, we know their weaknesses, we know their strengths, and we have the ability to keep it in check, so we can't lose.

I'm speaking a lot of war jargon because we are in the heat of battle and that is the only way I can paint a descriptive mental picture of what is happening. Conventional war is based on one side having the ability to conquer and kill the opponent.

Culture war is based on having one side destroy itself by losing its culture and adopting unnatural behavior.

Unnatural detrimental behavior at the urging of the enemy that results in disastrous endings. Weapons of mass destruction in conventional war means bombs and missiles, where in culture war it means cameras and the media.

Just like the early settlers learned that the culture of native Americans could easily be disrupted by killing the buffalo, there are those who see outsourcing certain types of jobs, and buying certain cars as a way to win the culture war.

When the cavalry slaughtered all the buffalo the Indians were helpless because that was all they knew. You can't slaughter buffalo today because that would be considered barbaric, and we are not like that. The culture war is being fought on a stage, so its execution must be subtle.

However subtle, the goal is to achieve the same results the early settlers got from killing all the buffalo, and that is to kill the enemies culture and watch them waste away.

Since the culture war is being waged on a stage before us in plain view, that means there must be producers and directors along with a cast of characters. Hollywood is the breeding ground for culture war personnel.

Without Hollywood there could be no culture war. There may be a ban on killing buffalos but it is open season on dreams, and Hollywood is bagging them at an alarming rate.

Killing dreams is a tricky thing in that dreams can only be killed when they come out to play. Dreams that play close to home never die. Hollywood knows how to trick dreams into straying too far from home.

When you kill a dream the body lives on but it is only a shell. When dreams become a fantasy and lose touch with reality the body continues to live, but it has no worth.

Without culture, all you have left is a worthless shell that acts in a very irrational way. The culture war has created a lot of refugees that are suffering from irrational behavior.

The Hollywood dream machine is a weapon that is causing mass destruction, while at the same time, rolling out the red carpet. The talk shows and the news media don't go after dreams but are instead concerned with the psyche.

Talk shows are nothing more than buffalo hunting expeditions with a twist. They limit the mental capacity, which results in a state of dependency. The news media's role in the culture war is that of the B-52 bomber, and that is to carpet bomb the terrain with a steady bombardment of bupkis.

The news media's relentless assault has blurred the line between matters of importance and hyperbole.

The culture war we are in is not about out-right winning, it is about getting the other side to capitulate. In other words, whatever power one side has must not be acknowledged by the other side. It should be treated as trivial and looked upon as something inferior that should be abandoned.

To get the enemy to think they are inferior is the overall aim of the culture war. The culture war is a tough war to execute because it is on a stage that requires a degree of subtlety you don't normally find in war.

One unwise act can undue years of progress. What victory will look like is something nobody can describe because you never achieve victory in a war like this.

Its method of execution changes from generation to generation which mean each generation will feel a need to wage a culture war even if it is just out of tradition. Culture war is just a fancy way of saying "us against them" and that is a war that has been going on since emancipation.

One last important point: if white males were killing each other in the streets, you wouldn't hear a lot of outcry from the black community, so don't expect any white sympathy or anything that resembles caring.
